The autumn railroad

Google+ reminded me that a year ago I had a great time on the forest railroad. It was nice day. I took several good photos of the trains on the background of the golden autumn forest.

There is an old industrial railroad in the neighborhood of Voskresensk (Moscow region, Russia). It connects a mining processing plant to an open mine and passes through a thick forest.

The autumn is the most colorful season. This is especially noticeable in the forest. Therefore, in October of last year I decided to visit that railroad.

I left home early in the morning. When I had arrived to the place, I left the car near the railroad crossing and went into the forest by the railway track.

Before I found a comfortable place to take pictures, I had passed three or four kilometers. The main problem is that trees and bushes grow too close to the railway track. It prevents to take good pictures of trains. However in the fall it does that railroad especially attractive.

The open mine Maltsovsky

Both of the photos from this post were taken on the 15th of August, 2014 in the open mine owned by Eurocement Group.

This open mine is placed in the neighborhood of the town Fokino (Bryansk region, Russia).

The scene is enough simply: TEM2 class diesel engine works in the open mine. He leads the train of dumpcars that is loading by the excavator EKG. The locomotive is decorated in a livery of Eurocement Group that is owner of this open mine and industrial railway.

That industrial space has a long history. The first open mine in this region was opened in the late of 19th century. There is limestone quarried for the local production of cement. A railroad is used to deliver the extracted raw materials to the plant from the first days of that open mine. In fact this is one of the oldest private industrial railways in Russia.

The quarry has its own name - Maltsovsky. Sergei Maltsov is a well-known Russian industrialist of 19th Century who has created a lot of companies, plants and railways. His enterprises were famous for their high level of technologies. And he gave for their employees better education and better social guarantees.
